Age
The University is committed to good practice in respect of age related matters. To assist the University in this commitment the following policies and actions are in place:
The University is a single status employer with a range of benefits, which are available from the first day of employment. These benefits are listed at the working for us page
The University monitors the age profile of candidates and the workforce. This information is used to review polices and procedures. This information also enables the University to develop strategies to ensure continued effective equal opportunities practices for all staff and applicants.
We have taken pro-active steps to ensure we attract staff from all age groups by working closely with our advertising agency to ensure that the wording of advertisements is not discriminatory or imply age restrictions. We use a variety of publications to advertise, with the aim of getting as many suitable people to apply for the vacancies as possible. We continually monitor success rates of our advertising and recruitment, and make sure that advertising is targeted to the right areas.
If you have any comments on the content of our adverts in this context please supply them via the following E-mail address:

Age information provided by candidates on equal opportunities monitoring section of the application form is only used for monitoring purposes and is not available to those undertaking the recruitment exercise.
We place great importance on the continual development of our staff through for example the provision of staff development programmes and our individual performance review process. Staff are encouraged to improve their job-related skills and knowledge regardless of their age.
