You will also contribute to BCU&#39;s commitments within the UK National Clean Maritime Research Hub, working with project partners to deliver high-quality research outputs, publications, technical guidance, and impact.</p><p style="margin-left: 0cm; text-align: justify;"><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><ul type="disc"><li style="margin-left: 0cm; text-align: justify;">Undertake research into wind-assisted ship propulsion and its contribution to maritime decarbonisation.</li><li style="margin-left: 0cm; text-align: justify;">Develop and apply appropriate analytical, numerical, and/or performance-prediction methods.</li><li style="margin-left: 0cm; text-align: justify;">Analyse ship and wind propulsion performance data and evaluate potential reductions in energy use and greenhouse gas emissions.</li><li style="margin-left: 0cm; text-align: justify;">Contribute to the development and validation of methodologies for assessing wind-assisted propulsion technologies.</li><li style="margin-left: 0cm; text-align: justify;">Work collaboratively with researchers across BCU, the UK National Clean Maritime Research Hub and relevant industry partners.</li><li style="margin-left: 0cm; text-align: justify;">Prepare high-quality journal papers, conference papers, technical reports, and other research outputs.</li><li style="margin-left: 0cm; text-align: justify;">Present research findings at project meetings, conferences, workshops, and stakeholder events.</li><li style="margin-left: 0cm; text-align: justify;">A PhD (or near completion), or equivalent research experience, in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Fluid Dynamics, or a closely related discipline.</li><li style="margin-left: 0cm;             <p><br></p><p><strong>Role Summary</strong></p><p>Reporting to the Director of Legal Services, you will provide comprehensive administrative support to the wider Legal Services team. The role will be based at our City Centre Campus.</p><p>You will contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of Legal Services, including monitoring and triaging the team&#39;s shared inbox, opening and maintaining files on the Legal Services case management system, liaising with internal and external stakeholders as required, and providing an efficient and professional administrative service.</p><p>While the role is based within Legal Services, it is not a legal specific role. This is a dedicated administration role and would suit someone who is looking to establish and develop a long-term career in administration and professional services.&nbsp;</p><p>The role offers the opportunity to develop a long-term career in administration, build knowledge and expertise within a specialist University function, and contribute to the continuous improvement of systems and processes.&nbsp;</p><p>This role is not intended to be a pathway into a legal support or qualified legal role and will not count towards any qualifying legal experience.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><p>The successful candidate will provide comprehensive administrative support to the Legal Services team. This will include monitoring and managing the team&#39;s shared email inbox, triaging correspondence, forwarding emails to the appropriate members of the team and responding to enquiries where appropriate.</p><p>You will be a key user of the team&#39;s legal case management system. This will range from opening new files, saving emails and correspondence for members of the legal team where required, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records, and supporting the effective operation of the system.</p><p>You will also provide high-level administrative support to the Director of Legal Services as required. This will include assisting with the scheduling and organisation of meetings, managing correspondence and assisting with responses to emails on behalf of, and under the direction of, the Director.</p><p>You will be responsible for providing financial administration support to the Legal Services team. The project focuses on replacing diesel-powered irrigation pumps with solar-powered alternatives, while also using surplus solar energy to power or charge local equipment such as cold storage, post-harvest machinery and low-powered EVs.</p><p style="margin-left: 0cm; text-align: justify;">You will work with diverse, high-impact datasets encompassing geospatial agricultural mapping, live climate data, energy demands, and socio-technical feasibility (PESTLE) to build an actionable Decision Support Systems (DSS).</p><p style="margin-left: 0cm; text-align: justify;">You will lead the technical development of a lightweight, Python-centric, open-source DSS. This system must translate our findings into a user-friendly tool tailored for two distinct audiences: local implementers (farmers/investors needing micro-level business cases) and policymakers (requiring macro-level scenario simulations).<strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p style="margin-left: 0cm; text-align: justify;">For the farmer, cooperative or investor the interface needs to be highly localized, focusing on the specific &quot;site&quot; or &quot;project&quot; level. It should cut through the noise and answer: <em>What technology works for this farmer right here, how much will it cost, and what is the return?</em></p><p style="margin-left: 0cm; text-align: justify;">For Policymakers, Government Agencies, Large-scale Planners the primary goals are strategic resource allocation, agro-industry electrification, and socio-economic upliftment. You will work closely with Programme Administration and colleagues across the University to ensure student records and systems accurately reflect academic regulations and support an effective student experience.</p><p style="margin-left: 0cm; text-align: justify;">This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience of student records, systems administration or business and systems analysis to develop their expertise in a complex higher education environment.</p><p style="margin-left: 0cm;
